In Burkesville, Kentucky near the Tennessee state line Dale Hollow Lake State Park is home to a large 145-site campground complete with a mini golf course and a general store for all your basic needs. Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 4 nights in a site for big rigs. On a plus side they're was fresh gravel on the driveway but the lots could use some as most of our site was all grass with patches of gravel. Miami Whitewater Forest Campground is located in the largest park in the county park system. Many campgrounds around Kentucky offer swimming as an option, no matter what part of the state you are exploring. Southern Komfort Resort and Marina provide year-around camping, featuring a mile-long shoreline with open sites along the lake or shaded sites within a few feet.
They mentioned they were slowing replacing all of them as most had been hit by the lawn mowers. The trains during the day are loud, but we didn't hear any at night maybe we slept through them, or maybe the schedules have changed since the negative reviews were posted. Good choice when going thru Cincinnati. More tent sites are available in the more wooded areas, but you must hike in to reach them. Seven Kentucky State Park campgrounds are open throughout the year.
